This Certificate of Completion (CCL) program is designed for the<br />
entry-level medical office support professional who needs general<br />
secretarial skills and medical terminology. Medical clinics, hospitals,<br />
doctors’ offices, and other health agencies offer various employment<br />
settings. An individual pursuing this program enjoys learning about<br />
the medical field; has basic skills in medical vocabulary, spelling,<br />
grammar, punctuation, and keyboarding; works independently and as<br />
a team member; and strives for quality and excellence.<br />
Program Notes: Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all<br />
courses required within the program.<br />

office support professional who types physician-dictated reports<br />
describing a patient’s medical care and condition. These reports<br />
include office chart notes, history and physical examinations,<br />

The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Patient Care Technician is a<br />
multi-skilled person responsible for direct patient care services under<br />
the supervision of a licensed nurse and/or caregiver who has<br />
appropriate certification. Responsibilities include: drawing blood,<br />
designated procedures and treatment, observing and reporting<br />
changes in a patient’s condition, performing electrocardiograms,<br />
performing urinary catheterizations, applying sterile dressings,<br />
documenting correctly, maintaining patient confidentiality, and<br />
recognizing legal and ethical commitments. The Patient Care<br />
Technician program prepares individuals for entry-level positions in<br />
hospitals or other health care settings. Students will be in contact<br />
with potentially infectious blood, tissues, and body fluids.<br />
