CRJU 484. Internship in Criminal<br />

Justice. (6-15)<br />

Field placement.<br />

Prerequisites: CRJU 100 or CRJU 150; junior<br />

or senior standing, with minimum 2.5 grade<br />

point average; faculty approval.<br />

Placement of student with criminal justice agency<br />

with academic supervision. Graded pass/fail.<br />

Does not fulfill CRJU elective requirement. This<br />

course may be taken concurrently with CRJU<br />

483. CRJU 484 may count for 3-12 credit hours<br />

for student concurrently enrolled in CRJU 483.<br />

CRJU 488. Final Honors Project. (2-3)<br />

Prerequisites: Enrollment in Honors Program,<br />

completion of all other Honors Program requirements,<br />

a minimum 3.5 GPA in all courses and in<br />

criminal justice.<br />

Project and topic to be explored determined by<br />

the student, the faculty member with whom he<br />

or she works and the student’s major department.<br />

Topics may include any of the basic fields<br />

offered within the field of criminal justice: law<br />

enforcement and administration; criminology<br />

and the courts; or probation, parole and corrections.<br />

In order to receive honors credit, a student<br />

must earn a grade of “A” or “B” for the final<br />

project. Course may not be repeated.<br />

may carry one to three hours credit a semester and<br />

may be taken for up to six semester hours credit.<br />

DANCE<br />

DNCE 105. Beginning Ballet. (2)<br />

Four hours technique. (TQ)<br />

Based on the Vagonova System, a scientific,<br />

thorough, and highly expressive classical ballet<br />

training method. Theory as well as fundamental<br />

barre and centre practice, including adagio and<br />

allegro techniques on a beginning level. May be<br />

taken for a total of six semester hours of credit.<br />

DNCE 111. Dance Appreciation. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture. (TH)<br />

Promotes understanding and appreciation of dance<br />

and its various roles in societies of past and present.<br />

This course has been approved for Core Curriculum<br />

credit in Visual and Performing Arts.<br />

CRJU 490. Seminar. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture.<br />

Prerequisites: CRJU 100 or CRJU 150, and junior<br />

standing.<br />

Concentrated study on specific areas of criminal<br />

justice. May be taken again for credit as often as<br />

course content varies.<br />

CRJU 495. Critical Perspectives in<br />

Criminal Justice. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture.<br />

Prerequisites: CRJU 385; senior standing.<br />

Designed to emphasize a variety of applied and<br />

synthesizing skills, including oral communication,<br />

intensive writing, and service learning.<br />

Decision making skills and ethics will also be<br />

emphasized in the area of public policy.<br />

CRJU 498. Independent Study. (1-3)<br />

Prerequisites: Nine hours of CRJU courses and<br />

permission of instructor.<br />

Students must obtain approval of department on<br />

DNCE 120. Dance Improvisation. (1)<br />

Provides the opportunity for creative exploration,<br />

reflection and discussion on the basic dance<br />

compositional elements, time, space and design.<br />

As an introduction to the creative process, improvisation<br />

provides experiences in making<br />

quick solutions to compositional problems. May<br />

be taken for a total of three semester hours of<br />

credit.<br />

DNCE 131. Beginning Modern Dance. (2)<br />

Four hours technique. (TQ)<br />

Fundamentals of movement, rhythm, form and<br />

design. Technique and compositional studies<br />

progressing in difficulty. May be taken for a total<br />

of six semester hours of credit.<br />

DNCE 180. Jazz Dance. (2)<br />

Four hours technique. (TQ)<br />

Technique in jazz dance progressing in difficulty<br />

as to length and complexity of exercises. May<br />

be taken for a total of six semester hours credit.
