ESHE 302. Theory and Practice of<br />

Individual/Dual Activities. (2)<br />

One hour lecture; two hours laboratory.<br />

Prerequisite: ESHE 210 and ESHE 294.<br />

Teacher candidates will design and implement<br />

developmentally appropriate physical education<br />

teaching practices for individual and dual activities.<br />

Candidates will also develop motor skill<br />

competence in a variety of individual and dual<br />

physical activities.<br />

ESHE 303. Advanced Conditioning. (1)<br />

Three hours lecture and laboratory.<br />

Provides students with an opportunity to achieve<br />

advanced levels of physical fitness and to study<br />

various training techniques.<br />

ESHE 304. Theory and Practice of Team<br />

Sport Activities. (2)<br />

One hour lecture; two hours laboratory.<br />

Prerequisite: ESHE 210 and ESHE 294.<br />

Provides an overview of school-based curricular<br />

offerings related to team sport activities. Students<br />

will become familiar with the skills and<br />

the content of a wide variety of team sports.<br />

Contains both physical activity and peer/clinical<br />

teaching requirements.<br />

ESHE 305. Principles and Practice of<br />

Strength and Conditioning. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture.<br />

Prerequisite: HLTH 200; minimum 2.5 cumulative<br />

GPA.<br />

This course is designed to develop the practical<br />

skills necessary to design strength and conditioning<br />

programs. Special emphasis is placed<br />

on the ability to evaluate exercise movements,<br />

prescribe appropriate exercise programs, and<br />

support program prescription with sound knowledge<br />

of anatomical and physiological adaptation<br />

to exercise.<br />

ESHE 306. Theory and Practice of<br />

Cooperative Games and Activities. (2)<br />

One hour lecture; two hours laboratory.<br />

Prerequisite: ESHE 210.<br />

Teacher candidates will design and implement<br />

teaching practices for cooperative and adventure<br />

activities. Candidates will also develop motor skill<br />

competence in a variety of physical activities.<br />

ESHE 310. Multicultural Self Defense<br />

Education. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture/laboratory.<br />

Introduces students to the self defense applications<br />

of Japanese karate and jujitsu; Korean taekwondo<br />

and hapkido; and Chinese kung fu and<br />

tai chi. The concept of the multicultural martial<br />

arts matrix will be employed.<br />

ESHE 315. Physical Activity and Aging. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture.<br />

Prerequisite: BIOL 105 and Junior standing;<br />

minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.<br />

Provides the student the opportunity to study the<br />

many individual facets of exercise, fitness and<br />

the aging process. Given the rapid increase in the<br />

number of elderly persons in our society, the student<br />

of the 21st century should be able to relate to<br />

and understand the many factors that affect the elderly<br />

from the health and fitness point of view.<br />

ESHE 330. Advanced Karate. (1-3)<br />

Three hours laboratory.<br />

Prerequisite: Permission of instructor.<br />

(May be taken for a total of six semester hours<br />

of credit.) Provides the standards for Kumite<br />

through the level of Black Belt.<br />

ESHE 341. Legal and Ethical Issues<br />

in Sports. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture.<br />

Prerequisite: ESHE 212 and junior standing;<br />

minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.<br />

Designed to introduce students to the legal doctrines,<br />

major statutes, standards and case law<br />

that establish legal responsibilities, rights, privileges<br />

and controls related to the field of exercise<br />

and sport sciences.<br />
