THEA 475. Theatre Problems. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture.<br />

Contains a concentrated study of particularly<br />

significant people, events, movements or aspects<br />

of theatrical venues not covered in depth<br />

in other course offerings. May be repeated (on<br />

different topics) for maximum of 12 semester<br />

hours credit.<br />

THEA 476. Production Practicum. (1-3)<br />

Prerequisite: Permission of instructor.<br />

Provides the student with an experiential application<br />

of the principles of theatrical production<br />

and its various aspects. Typical experiences will<br />

include, but not be limited to: acting, box office,<br />

design and production, directing, dramaturgy,<br />

makeup design, publicity, and management. This<br />

course is intended for students who wish to extend<br />

their classroom experience by applying it<br />

practically to a realized project. May be repeated<br />

for up to twelve (12) semester hours for credit.<br />

THEA 478. Internship in Theatrical<br />

Production. (1-12)<br />

Prerequisite: Sophomore standing, acceptance<br />

of Internship application by the faculty and the<br />

theatre designated for internship residency.<br />

Short or long term professional theatre/film<br />

residency in one of the following areas: box<br />

office/house management, development,<br />

directing/acting, drama enrichment/education,<br />

literary, marketing, stage management and technique<br />

production and design: scenic costume,<br />

lighting and sound. May be taken again for maximum<br />

of 12 semester hours credit.<br />

THEA 480. Film Theory and Criticism. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture.<br />

Prerequisite: THEA 180.<br />

The study of critical thought in cinematic arts<br />

from its inception to current times.<br />

THEA 482. Documentary/Nonfiction Film. (3)<br />

Three hours lecture.<br />

Prerequisite: THEA 180.<br />

An overview of documentary/nonfiction film<br />

from its primitive beginnings in the shorts of the<br />

Lumiere Brothers to an examination of contemporary<br />

artists, directions and visions. Student<br />

cannot receive credit for both THEA 380 and<br />

THEA 482.<br />

THEA 488. Final Honors Project. (2-3)<br />

Prerequisites: Enrollment in the Honors Academy,<br />

completion of all other Honors Academy requirements,<br />

senior standing, a minimum 3.5 GPA<br />

in all courses and in theatre.<br />

The project and the topic to be explored will be<br />

determined by the student, the faculty member<br />

with whom the student works and the student’s<br />

major program area. (Honors project may be a<br />

written or performance-based project.) In order<br />

to receive honors credit, a student must earn a<br />

grade of “A” or “B” for the final project. Course<br />

may not be repeated.<br />

THEA 498. Independent Study. ( 3 )<br />

Prerequisite: THEA 201.<br />

UNIV 100. Introduction to Higher<br />

Education. (1)<br />

Prerequisites: First year students and/or first<br />

semester transfer students by permission.<br />

Explores the meaning and value of a comprehensive<br />

liberal arts education, teach problem solving<br />

and decision-making processes, and promote<br />

academic success through selected readings, presentations,<br />

discussions, and experiential learning<br />

opportunities. Students will learn and practice a<br />

variety of specific techniques for learning and<br />

self-management.<br />

VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS<br />

CVPA 266. Travel Study in Visual and<br />

Performing Arts. (3)<br />

Prerequisite: Permission of instructor.<br />

Academic study involving international travel.<br />

Locations and study focus vary with each section,<br />

but may include Greece (for art), Italy (for<br />

music), England (for theatre), and so on. This<br />

course has been approved for Core Curriculum<br />

credit in Visual and Performing Arts.<br />
