Provides clinical experience in a secondary<br />
field placement appropriate to students in a preprofessional<br />

field experience is integrated with course work<br />
in the Professional Core, which is scheduled simultaneously<br />

469.<br />
Provides structured, sequenced, and supervised<br />
clinical field experience that is integrated with<br />
coursework in the Special Education Professional<br />
Core. Students apply skills and knowledge in assessment,<br />
behavior management, program planning,<br />
educational technology, communication approaches,<br />
and instructional methodology. They<br />
gain and enhance their professional skills and dispositions<br />
related to communication and collaboration,<br />
ethical practice, cultural competence, and professional<br />
development. Faculty-directed seminars<br />

EDSP 436. Teaching Infants, Toddlers,<br />
and Preschoolers with Disabilities. (3)<br />
Three hours lecture.<br />
Prerequisites: EDSP 360 or EDSP 361; 2.5<br />
GPA.<br />
Addresses methods for providing developmentally<br />
and exceptionality appropriate instructional<br />
programming for young children with special<br />
needs in all areas of development. Includes development<br />
of individualized education programs<br />
and individualized family service plans.<br />
EDSP 437. Assessment, Diagnosis, and<br />
Evaluation in Early Childhood Special<br />
Education. (3)<br />
Three hours lecture.<br />
Prerequisites: EDSP 360 or EDSP 361, and 2.5<br />
GPA.<br />
Provides participants with knowledge of the<br />
selection, administration, and interpretation of<br />
formal and informal assessment techniques for<br />
young children with disabling and at-risk conditions<br />
and their families.<br />
EDSP 438. Program Management in<br />
Early Childhood Special Education. (3)<br />
Three hours lecture.<br />
Prerequisites: EDSP 360 or EDSP 361, and a<br />
minimum 2.5 GPA.<br />
Addresses administrative aspects of service<br />
delivery systems for young children with disabilities<br />
or at-risk conditions and their families.<br />
Examines legal requirements, funding mechanisms,<br />
service coordination, resource acquisition,<br />
interagency coordination, integration with peers<br />
without disabilities, child find, transition facilitation,<br />
professional development, and program<br />
evaluation. Includes techniques for working with<br />
children, families, educators, related service providers<br />
and other human services professionals.<br />
EDSP 439. Medical and Neurodevelopmental<br />
Aspects of Teaching Young Children with<br />
Disabilities. (3)<br />
