title and 23 plates, some spotting, a couple of gatherings working<br />
loose, later half straight-grain morocco, spine gilt, spine ends and<br />
corners worn, rubbed and scuffed, [Abbey, Life, 423; Colas 491;<br />

*** Includes Owen Clancey the Frost-Bitten sailor, Joseph<br />
Hill the Bell-ringer, A Fireman, Thomas Musto the Mat-Man<br />
and the fabulous Billy Waters, the Dancing Fiddler. Waters was<br />
an American who lost his leg in a sailing accident and used his<br />
musical and dancing ‘talents’ to earn a living for himself, his wife<br />
and a five year old daughter. A ceramic figure of Waters is included<br />
in the lot.<br />
