handsome large woodcut criblé initials, occasional contemporary<br />
ink marginalia, lacking C2&5 and final blank, a1&2 repair to inner<br />
margin, some wormholes, mostly to end, occasionally affecting a<br />
few letters, occasional water-staining, again mostly at end and<br />
mostly marginal, contemporary blind-stamped pigskin over wooden<br />
boards, metal clasps, spine in compartments and with 3 later paper<br />
labels, a few wormholes, lightly soiled and spotted, [Renouard,<br />

*** A rare and important edition of Plutarch’s Lives. We can trace<br />
only one other copy at auction (sold in 1983, lacking final blank).<br />

foot and with faded ink signature at head, small ink number stamp<br />
to verso of title and foot of e1, occasional light foxing, mostly<br />
marginal, a few small marginal water-stains, 18th century tree<br />
