li b r a ry and triple gilt filet borders with small floral corner-pieces,<br />

*** The attractive Signet Library copy of a scarce work at auction<br />
(we can trace only one other set, which was sold in these rooms in<br />
2010). Aristides studied under Alexander of Cotiaeum, the tutor<br />
of Marcus Aurelius. He was a skilled orator and travelled widely<br />
throughout Asia, Africa and Europe, particularly in Egypt, Greece<br />
and Italy.<br />
