sig. 2Z skilfully remargined, some spoting or light foxing, handsome
contemporary red morocco, spines in compartments with gilt floral
motifs and black morocco label, covers with gilt arms of the Si g n e t
li b r a ry and triple gilt filet borders with small floral corner-pieces,
vol.2 a few nicks to head of spine, spines darkened, vol.1 small
scuffmark to lower cover, both vol. rubbed, g.e., 4to, Oxford,

*** The attractive Signet Library copy of a scarce work at auction
(we can trace only one other set, which was sold in these rooms in
2010). Aristides studied under Alexander of Cotiaeum, the tutor
of Marcus Aurelius. He was a skilled orator and travelled widely
throughout Asia, Africa and Europe, particularly in Egypt, Greece
and Italy.
