Exposure Period:<br />

24 hours/day<br />

365 days/year<br />

Direct Soil Exposure Pathways:<br />

• direct soil ingestion<br />

• direct soil dermal contact<br />

• direct soil particulate inhalation<br />

Indirect Soil Exposure Pathways:<br />

• ingestion <strong>of</strong> groundwater as drinking water<br />

• infiltration <strong>of</strong> volatile contaminants into indoor air via basements<br />

• consumption <strong>of</strong> produce, meat, <strong>and</strong> milk produced on-site<br />

assumptions:<br />

• 100% <strong>of</strong> milk ingested produced on-site<br />

• 50% <strong>of</strong> produce ingested grown on-site<br />

• 50% <strong>of</strong> meat ingested produced on-site<br />

All <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above check mechanisms are calculated. If check modelling procedures indicate an<br />

unacceptable exposure, <strong>the</strong> soil quality guideline is lowered.<br />
