Part B, Section 5<br />

5.4 Industrial L<strong>and</strong> Use<br />

It is assumed that on industrial l<strong>and</strong>s, activities may not rely on protecting key ecological receptors to <strong>the</strong><br />

same degree as agricultural <strong>and</strong> residential/parkl<strong>and</strong> l<strong>and</strong> use. However, it is not <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> SEQCCS that areas <strong>of</strong> industrial l<strong>and</strong>s not be able to support any ecological activity, <strong>and</strong><br />

consequently be viewed as a portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> l<strong>and</strong>scape in which high levels <strong>of</strong> contamination are<br />

permitted. There<strong>for</strong>e, soil quality guidelines will be developed <strong>for</strong> industrial l<strong>and</strong> use, but will not <strong>of</strong>fer<br />

<strong>the</strong> same level <strong>of</strong> protection from adverse effects as guidelines <strong>for</strong> agricultural <strong>and</strong> residential/parkl<strong>and</strong><br />

l<strong>and</strong> use. Industrial l<strong>and</strong> use guidelines will be derived <strong>for</strong> direct soil contact by soil-dependent biota<br />

<strong>and</strong> wildlife <strong>and</strong> will <strong>of</strong>fer <strong>the</strong> same level <strong>of</strong> protection as commercial l<strong>and</strong> use guidelines. A generic<br />

exposure scenario <strong>and</strong> receptor array <strong>for</strong> an industrial site is shown in Figure 8.<br />
