To complete the required 15 credits, students must also choose<br />

one course from any <strong>of</strong> the aforementioned courses not already<br />

taken or from the electives listed on p. 79.<br />

Telecommunications Management (15 credits)<br />

The certificate in Telecommunications Management provides<br />

the technical manager <strong>of</strong> IT pr<strong>of</strong>essionals with the technical and<br />

management skills needed to plan, acquire, operate, evaluate,<br />

and upgrade telecommunications systems in an environment <strong>of</strong><br />

IT convergence and constant change. One semester <strong>of</strong> undergraduate<br />

calculus and one semester <strong>of</strong> statistics are prerequisites<br />

for this certificate. All courses apply to the MS in telecommunications<br />

management degree.<br />

Certificates in International Management<br />

International Marketing (12 credits)<br />

The certificate in International Marketing explores the marketing<br />

issues that are encountered when entering foreign markets such<br />

as cultural differences, market access barriers, market research,<br />

and market entry strategies. The certificate is intended for U.S.<br />

company managers who seek to market goods and services outside<br />

the United States.<br />

Students must take the following courses:<br />

IMAN 625 International Trade and Trade Policy (3)<br />

IMAN 640 International Marketing Management (3)<br />

Students must choose one <strong>of</strong> the following courses:<br />

ADMN 689 Integrated Direct Marketing (3)<br />

Note: The first course taken should be IMAN 640 and the<br />

remaining courses may be taken in any order.<br />

International Trade (12 credits)<br />

The certificate in International Trade prepares managers to identify<br />

and take advantage <strong>of</strong> global business opportunities. Topics<br />

such as global business strategies, strategic alliances, the World<br />

Trade Organization, and government relations are explored and<br />

applied to business situations. The certificate is intended for<br />

managers who want to learn the principles and techniques<br />

<strong>of</strong> international business and how to apply them to real business<br />

situations.<br />
