Curriculum Requirements Noncredit Course All degree-seeking students are required to complete the noncredit course UCSP 610 Library Skills for the Information Age within their first 6 credits of study. The courses in the program are interrelated and provide a solid conceptual and applied foundation. Overview In each segment of the degree program, theory and concepts are presented so the student may develop and evaluate administrative skills. In each course, faculty members combine theoretical concepts with the practical application of usable skills. This degree program requires 36–39 credits and consists of seven core courses, four elective courses, and an end-of-program option. A specialty track in energy resources management and policy and a concentration in environmental business are available. Program Requirements In addition to the general requirements (listed on p. 11), students in this program must have earned their bachelor’s degree in social science, physical science, biological science, or engineering, with a minimum of 3 credits each in chemistry and biology; and have a minimum of one year of experience or other evidence of expertise in the environmental field. Provisional Status Applicants who have not completed 6 credits of combined coursework in chemistry and biology may be admitted to provisional status while completing this requirement. They will be allowed to register for a maximum of two courses chosen from the following list while completing the requirement in chemistry and biology: ENVM 641, ENVM 643, ENVM 646, or TMAN 640. Decision-Pending Status Students may enroll in one of the following graduate courses before UMUC has received the official college transcript from the bachelor’s-degree-granting institution: ENVM 646, ENVM 648, or TMAN 640.
