Master <strong>of</strong> Science in Health Care Administration<br />
UMUC <strong>of</strong>fers a 36-credit degree program leading to the Master <strong>of</strong> Science (MS) in<br />
health care administration. This program <strong>of</strong>fers a specialized and focused degree in<br />
health care administration. Applicants will be able to increase their depth <strong>of</strong> knowledge<br />
in the administration <strong>of</strong> health care services and programs through a variety <strong>of</strong> general<br />
management and health care administration courses. Updated information on the MS<br />

Overview<br />
In each segment <strong>of</strong> this 36-credit degree program, theory and concepts are presented so<br />
the student may develop and evaluate management skills. In each course, faculty members<br />
combine theoretical concepts with the practical application <strong>of</strong> usable skills. This<br />
degree program consists <strong>of</strong> four core courses, six required courses, one elective course,<br />
and a capstone course.<br />

Decision-Pending Status<br />
Students may enroll in HCAD 600 before UMUC has received the <strong>of</strong>ficial transcript<br />
from the bachelor’s-degree-granting institution. Students must receive an admission<br />
decision before subsequent enrollments.<br />
Formats/Locations<br />
Classes in the MS in health care administration are <strong>of</strong>fered online and at <strong>College</strong> Park<br />
and the Shady Grove Center. Students should check the current Graduate Schedule <strong>of</strong><br />
Classes to determine when courses will be <strong>of</strong>fered at specific locations throughout the<br />
Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.<br />
Students who first complete the entire MS in health care administration degree program<br />
and meet all requirements for graduation will be eligible to earn an MBA, in<br />
either the regular or executive format, with only an additional 18–24 semester hours<br />
<strong>of</strong> coursework. The MBA is <strong>of</strong>fered online. More information on the dual degree program<br />
