23.57 While you are getting on with satisfying achievement, be sure not to be so<br />

busy that you forget to enjoy life as you go along. Slow down a little, step<br />

back and see life as an objective observer. Take the time to observe things<br />

around you, smile more, talk less, listen more. Too many people fail to make<br />

the most of their children, the treasure of a healthy body, and the actual<br />

fruits of their labors. ey also fail to appreciate the everyday good things<br />

that are taken for granted.<br />

23.58 When life draws to a close, when you no longer see much future for yourself,<br />

and when you dwell on your past, then you will wish you had made more of<br />

the moments as you were actually living them. Do not wait till then. Do it<br />

now!<br />

23.59 Be obsessed, focused and consumed by your training when you are in the<br />

gym, and rest, eat and sleep well while out of the gym. en get on with the<br />

rest of your life. Do not expect even stellar training achievements to bring<br />

order and happiness to your life. Great satisfaction in one limited area, yes,<br />

but nothing more. Suppose, for example, that you could squat 200 pounds<br />

more than you actually can now, and that you have 30 pounds more muscle.<br />

As terrific as that would be, would it make any difference to the events and<br />

relationships that have the greatest impact on your happiness?<br />

23.60 As marvelous as training is, never forget that it is only a small part of the<br />

big picture. ose who are obsessed with training even when they are not<br />

in the gym expose themselves to the destructive side of training—neglect of<br />

personal relationships, family life, health, education and career.<br />
