ARTICLE 10 SENIORITY<br />
10.01 Probationary Period<br />
A new employee will be considered on probation until he has completed three hundred and sixty<br />
(360) hours worked within any twelve (12) calendar months. Upon completion <strong>of</strong> the<br />
probationary period he shall be credited with seniority equal to three hundred and sixty (360)<br />
hours worked. With the written consent <strong>of</strong> the Employer, the probationary employee and the<br />
Vice-‐President <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Local</strong> <strong>Union</strong> or designate, such probationary period may be extended. Any<br />
extension agreed to will be in writing and will specify the length <strong>of</strong> the extension. The release or<br />
discharge <strong>of</strong> an employee during the probationary period shall not be the subject <strong>of</strong> a grievance<br />
or arbitration.<br />
10.02 Definition <strong>of</strong> Seniority<br />
Full-‐time employees will accumulate seniority on the basis <strong>of</strong> their continuous service in the<br />
bargaining unit from the last date <strong>of</strong> hire, except as otherwise provided herein.<br />
Part-‐time employees, including casual employees, will accumulate seniority on the basis <strong>of</strong> one<br />
<br />
the bargaining unit as <strong>of</strong> the last date <strong>of</strong> hire, except as otherwise provided herein.<br />
Seniority will operate on a bargaining unit wide basis.<br />
It is understood that the Casual/Part-‐time employees will accrue seniority <strong>of</strong> 40 hours for a week<br />
<strong>of</strong> booked vacation, and the Paramedic Clerk will accrue 35 hours or seniority while <strong>of</strong>f on a<br />
week <strong>of</strong> booked vacation.<br />
A part-‐ <br />
period (January 1st to December 31st).<br />
10.03 Seniority Lists<br />
A seniority list shall be established for all employees covered by this <strong>agreement</strong> who have<br />
completed their probationary period. The Employer agrees to post the seniority list twice per<br />
year, January 15 th and July 15 th in each base. A copy <strong>of</strong> the seniority list will be filed with the<br />
<strong>Union</strong>.<br />
The seniority list will be posted to the first pay immediately following January 1 st and June 30 th<br />
respectively.<br />
Any objection by an employee or the <strong>Union</strong> to the accuracy <strong>of</strong> the seniority lists must be made in<br />
writing to the Personnel & Policy Officer within thirty (30) calendar days <strong>of</strong> the date the lists<br />
were posted. If no objections are received within thirty (30) days period, the lists will be<br />
deemed to be accurate.<br />
