ARTICLE 25 -­‐ HEALTH AND WELFARE FULL-­‐TIME EMPLOYEES<br />

25.01 Insured Benefits<br />

The Employer agrees to contribute one hundred percent (100%) <strong>of</strong> the billed premium<br />

towards coverage <strong>of</strong> eligible employees in the active employ <strong>of</strong> the Employer for basic<br />

participant life insurance, dependent life insurance and participant accidental death and<br />

dismemberment insurance with benefits equivalent to those described in the Sun Life<br />

Financial Plan #33264 employee handbook.<br />

The Employer agrees to contribute seventy-­‐five percent (75%) <strong>of</strong> the billed premium<br />

towards coverage <strong>of</strong> eligible employees in the active employ <strong>of</strong> the Employer for<br />

extended health care with benefits equivalent to those described in the Manulife<br />

Financial Plan #G0089425A employee handbook.<br />

The Employer agrees to contribute seventy-­‐five percent (75%) <strong>of</strong> the billed premium<br />

towards coverage <strong>of</strong> eligible employees in the active employ <strong>of</strong> the Employer for dental<br />

care with benefits equivalent to those described in the Manulife Financial Plan<br />

#G0089425A employee handbook.<br />

A copy <strong>of</strong> the insured benefits plan text shall be provided to the <strong>Union</strong>. Employees shall<br />

receive an updated employee handbook when changes are made to the plan.<br />

The Employer agrees to contribute seventy-­‐five percent (75%) <strong>of</strong> the billed premium<br />

towards coverage to all regular full time employees who retire early and have not yet<br />

reached age sixty-­‐ <br />

benefits, on the same basis as is provided to active regular full time employees for<br />

extended health care and dental benefits. Retired employees, who choose to participate<br />

in the Employer's extended health care and dental benefit plans shall contribute the<br />

remaining twenty-­‐five (25%) to the billed premiums payable by post dated cheques<br />

three (3) months in advance <strong>of</strong> the month for which the premium is paid to the carrier.<br />

When a retired employee reaches the age <strong>of</strong> sixty-­‐five (65) any benefits under the<br />

extended care and dental plans will cease.<br />

25.02 Voluntary Part-­‐time Benefits<br />

The Employer will provide part-­‐time employees with the option <strong>of</strong> voluntary participation in any<br />

and all <strong>of</strong> the group health and welfare benefit programs set out in Clause 25.01 where<br />

employees meet the eligibility requirements <strong>of</strong> the applicable benefits plan. It is understood and<br />

agreed that the part-­‐time employees would pay the Employer the full amount (100%) <strong>of</strong> the<br />

applicable monthly premiums in advance. Employees will not be permitted to elect in and out <strong>of</strong><br />

such benefits.<br />
