24.03 Vacation Scheduling and Administration<br />

Part-­‐time:<br />

The vacation year for the purposes <strong>of</strong> calculating vacation entitlement is from<br />

May 1 st to April 30 th .<br />

Regular full-­‐time or part-­‐time employees who possess three (3) weeks or more vacation<br />

entitlement may request up to ten (1) vacation days per year on a single day basis provided that<br />

they use a minimum <strong>of</strong> two (2) weeks <strong>of</strong> their vacation entitlement as entire vacation weeks.<br />

Such requests will be requested and made in accordance with Clause 12.01. Single vacation day<br />

requests will not be subject to the annual vacation pre-­‐scheduling process or subject to the<br />

application <strong>of</strong> seniority.<br />

24.04 Work During Vacation<br />

Should an employee who has commenced his scheduled vacation and agrees upon request by<br />

the Employer to return to perform work during the vacation period, the employee shall be paid<br />

at one and one-­‐half (1½) times his basic straight time rate for all hours worked. To replace the<br />

originally scheduled days on which such work was performed, the employee will receive one (1)<br />

vacation lieu day <strong>of</strong>f for each day he worked.<br />

24.05 Illness During Vacation Full-­‐time Employees<br />

<br />

commenced prior to or during the scheduled vacation period, the period <strong>of</strong> such loss shall be<br />

considered sick leave.<br />

Serious illness is defined as an illness which requires the employee to receive on-­‐going medical<br />

care and/or treatment resulting in either hospitalization or which would confine the employee to<br />

their residence or to bed rest for more than three (3) days.<br />
