In respect to 8 hour shifts associated with Full-­‐time tours <strong>of</strong> duty, the part-­‐time<br />

employee who is scheduled in that location, shall first be <strong>of</strong>fered, regardless <strong>of</strong> seniority,<br />

the available 8 hour shift if he/she if scheduled to work the 4 hour shift.<br />

In filling <strong>of</strong> shifts or short notice call-­‐-­‐time or casual employee<br />

will be first be given the opportunity to work provided they are available to work.<br />

l) In respect to long term vacancies <strong>of</strong> three months or less, assignments will be made by<br />

the supervisor. The most senior part-­‐time or casual employee will first be given the<br />

opportunity to work, provided they are available.<br />

21.03 In Service Training<br />

It is agreed that when mandatory in-­‐service educational sessions are instituted by the<br />

Employer, employees shall be required to attend. Such programs will be conducted<br />

during working hours where practicable.<br />

Where such mandatory in-­‐service educational sessions are conducted outside the<br />

employee's working hours, the Employer will pay the employee his/her applicable rate<br />

<strong>of</strong> pay for attendance as per Article 20 at such in-­‐service sessions.<br />

The employer will endeavour to post upcoming available training dates which it<br />

becomes aware <strong>of</strong> on the master schedule as soon as such dates are known (including<br />

<br />

Employer will not be held liable or responsible for any consequences where changes to<br />

the dates <strong>of</strong> events not under the direct delivery <strong>of</strong> the Employer occur.<br />

ARTICLE 22 -­‐ OVERTIME AND PREMIUM PAYMENT<br />

22.01 Definition <strong>of</strong> Regular Straight-­‐time Rate <strong>of</strong> Pay<br />

The regular straight time rate <strong>of</strong> pay is that prescribed in Schedule <strong>of</strong> the Collective<br />

Agreement.<br />

22.02 Definition <strong>of</strong> Overtime<br />

(a)<br />

All authorized work performed:<br />

(i)<br />

(ii)<br />

<br />

in excess <strong>of</strong> forty (40) hours per week averaged over and up to an eight (8) week<br />

period.<br />

(b)<br />

Overtime will not be paid for additional hours worked during a twenty-­‐four (24) hour<br />

period as a result <strong>of</strong> a change in tour at the request <strong>of</strong> an employee, or changeover to<br />

Daylight Saving Time from Standard Time or vice versa.<br />
