In this case: minutes spent waiting in line is a continuous random variable. The reason is that a person doesn‟t wait a whole-number of minutes! It is perfectly okay for a person to wait 1.42 minutes, for example. In this example, suppose we wish to find ( ), that is, the probability that the wait time is 2-and-a-half minutes.
