= sum(B2:B12) This tells Excel to sum up the range of values from B2 to B12. The colon indicates that we want the full range and not just the two cells B2 and B12. For measures such as the range, Excel does not have a built-in range function. Excel does have a function to locate the maximum and minimum values in a range of cells. Into cell D5, we will type in: = max(B2:B12) – min(B2:B12) This will find the maximum value from B2 to B12 and subtract away the minimum from B2 to B12, giving us precisely the range.
