These are the essential things urban guerrillas have to consider if they<br />

are going to be successful . One thing Marighella states is "Every good<br />

urban guerrilla must be a good driver,"<br />

Five things the urban guerrilla<br />

must do says the author are :<br />

1 . take the enemy by surprise<br />

2 . know the terrain better than the enemy<br />

3 . have greater mobility and speed than the enemy<br />

4 . have a better information service than the enemy<br />

5 . be in command of the situation and demonstrate decisiveness .<br />

Marighella describes different types of <strong>action</strong> models for the urban guerrilla<br />

which are armed assault attacks, the bank assault, raids and occupa<br />

tions of government buildings, factories, schools and radio stations, ambushes,<br />

street tactics,<br />

strikes and work interruptions, seizures and expropriations<br />

of arms,<br />

liberation of prisoners, executions, kidnapping,<br />

sabotage, terrorism, armed propaganda and psychological war . Other essentials<br />

are, in carrying out <strong>action</strong>s, the urban guerrilla group never abandons<br />

a wounded urban guerrilla, either at the<br />

site of <strong>action</strong>, or to be left<br />

to fall into the enemy's hands . Marighella describes what he considers to<br />

be the seven sins or weaknesses of the urban guerrilla . They are inexperience,<br />

boasting about <strong>action</strong>s, vanity, exaggerating one's own strength,<br />
