The impact of the conference was such that the Nashville Student Movement<br />

bought Dr . King to Nashville the weekend of the ASM conference . During<br />

his speech, Dr . King attacked the conference as "hate in reverse ." 17<br />

From the conference BLF-RAM organizers went into the<br />

south to work<br />

with SNCC . With the permission of SNCC chairman John Lewis, an experimental<br />

black nationalist self-defense project was started in Greenwood,<br />

Mississippi .<br />

discussion with the Mississippi field staff of SNCC, BLF-RAM organizers<br />

found the staff was prepared to establish a state-wide armed selfdefense<br />

system . They were also prepared to move in an all-black national<br />

ist direction . All that was needed was money to finance the project . 18<br />

In the meantime, Monthly Review published an article titled, "The Colonial<br />

War at Home," which included most of Stanford's Correspondence article,<br />

"Toward a Revolutionary Action Movement," edited with some of Malcoim's<br />

remarks, and excerpts from Robert Williams' "Revolution Without Violence" 19<br />

The article was discussed by the majority of the SNCC field staff .<br />

SNCC was polarized between black and white organizers and<br />

between left and<br />

right ing forces within SNCC .<br />
