Comm<strong>and</strong> Information Services<br />
7-76. Good public aff<strong>air</strong>s <strong>operations</strong> can be a great combat multiplier. While<br />
the ADA brigade <strong>and</strong> division public aff<strong>air</strong>s officers provide information<br />
support for soldiers <strong>and</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>ers, active comm<strong>and</strong> emphasis on public<br />
aff<strong>air</strong>s will produce motivated soldiers <strong>and</strong> a supportive public.<br />
7-77. Public aff<strong>air</strong>s officers plan <strong>and</strong> conduct proactive comm<strong>and</strong> information<br />
programs to keep soldiers informed of events in their AO as well as at home.<br />
PAO also plan <strong>and</strong> conduct aggressive media relations that help tell the<br />
Army story <strong>and</strong> build public support for Army <strong>operations</strong>.<br />
Finance Services<br />
7-78. Finance support teams (FST) provide military pay support in the form<br />
of pay inquiries, pay change input, casual pay, <strong>and</strong> check cashing. They also<br />
support local procurement by providing cash for Class-A agents <strong>and</strong> imprest<br />
fund cashiers.<br />
Combat Health Support<br />
7-79. Combat health support (CHS) at the battalion level is provided by the<br />
battalion surgeon <strong>and</strong> the medical section. The battalion aid station (BAS)<br />
provides echelon I (unit level) health service support (HSS). The BAS<br />
performs triage <strong>and</strong> treats, stabilizes, <strong>and</strong> evacuates injured, ill, or wounded<br />
soldiers. Combat medics perform emergency medical treatment <strong>and</strong> arrange<br />
evacuation of casualties at battery level.<br />
7-80. Echelon II care is provided by area support medical companies in the<br />
corps <strong>and</strong> EAC. Care at this level consists of evaluation of patients' stat<strong>us</strong><br />
<strong>and</strong> establishment of priority for continued evacuation. Emergency care, to<br />
include res<strong>us</strong>citation, is continued, <strong>and</strong> additional emergency treatment is<br />
initiated, if necessary.<br />
7-81. Echelon III care is provided by combat support hospitals in the corps.<br />
These hospitals are staffed <strong>and</strong> equipped to provide res<strong>us</strong>citation, initial<br />
wound surgery, <strong>and</strong> postoperative treatment.<br />
7-82. Echelon IV care is provided by general <strong>and</strong> field hospitals at EAC.<br />
These hospitals are staffed <strong>and</strong> equipped for general <strong>and</strong> specialized medical<br />
<strong>and</strong> surgical care <strong>and</strong> reconditioning rehabilitation to quickly return soldiers<br />
to duty.<br />
Field Services<br />
7-83. An ASG or CSG provides field-services on an area support basis. The<br />
battalion <strong>and</strong> brigade LRCs coordinate for field services as required, when<br />
the tactical situation allows. Field services serve to preserve the health <strong>and</strong><br />
welfare of the soldier. They include food preparation, water purification,<br />
clothing <strong>and</strong> light textile rep<strong>air</strong>, laundry <strong>and</strong> shower, Post Exchange sales,<br />
aerial delivery, <strong>and</strong> mortuary aff<strong>air</strong>s.<br />
