TOWN OF VERNON<br />
ZONING REGULATIONS<br />
2.56.6 Only those persons living within the residence shall be engaged in such<br />
activity;<br />
2.56.7 Not more than twenty-five (25) percent <strong>of</strong> the total floor area, not to exceed<br />
two hundred fifty (250) square feet shall be devoted to such use;<br />
2.56.8 The house shall not be enlarged to accommodate the occupation;<br />
2.56.9 The occupation shall not be visible from the street by display <strong>of</strong> products or<br />
equipment;<br />
2.56.10 The occupation shall not tend to excessively draw people and vehicles to the<br />
premises;<br />
2.56.11 No classes shall be held for purpose <strong>of</strong> giving lessons or instruction for more<br />
than two students or pupils at a time;<br />
2.56.12 No signs associated with the home occupation shall be allowed.<br />
2.57 Hospital: An institution licensed by the State <strong>of</strong> Connecticut as a hospital, which<br />
renders all customary and necessary functions including but not limited to both in and<br />
out patient medical and surgical care, laboratory and diagnostic services, emergency<br />
room services, <strong>of</strong>ficers for administrative and staff personnel, leased <strong>of</strong>fices to<br />
physicians and other medical care providers, maintenance, and engineering facilities,<br />
parking spaces, food service and retail gift shop for the primary use <strong>of</strong> hospital patients,<br />
staff and visitors, accommodations for transportation <strong>of</strong> patients both by helicopter and<br />
ground transport and such other uses <strong>of</strong> the facility which are related to and necessary<br />
for the efficient operation <strong>of</strong> the facility.<br />
2.58 Hotel: A building providing lodging for persons with or without meals, and intended for<br />
the accommodation <strong>of</strong> transients and so designed that normal access and egress are<br />
controlled from a central point.<br />
2.59 Household Pet: Any domestic animal kept for pleasure rather than utility or pr<strong>of</strong>it<br />
which is normally kept within a residence and includes, among others, dogs, cats,<br />
gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, reptiles, birds, turtles, and tropical fish.<br />
2.60 Impervious Surface: A paved surface, building or other structure, which does not<br />
allow water or other liquids to penetrate to the ground below.<br />
2.61A Inspection: The periodic review <strong>of</strong> all aspects <strong>of</strong> a development.<br />
