TOWN OF VERNON<br />
ZONING REGULATIONS<br />
2.27 Cooperative Unit: A housing unit where the mortgage on the unit is held by a<br />
nonpr<strong>of</strong>it sponsor and the individual members qualify by acquiring a share in the<br />
cooperative as well as residing in the unit.<br />
2.28 County Soil and Water Conservation District: The Tolland County Soil and Water<br />
Conservation District established under subsection (a) <strong>of</strong> Section 22a-315 <strong>of</strong> the<br />
General Statues.<br />
2.29 All Day Care services shall be registered with the State and shall include:<br />
2.29.1 Adult Day Care: A service which provides a program <strong>of</strong> supplemental care to<br />
adults outside <strong>of</strong> their own residences on a regular basis for a part <strong>of</strong> the<br />
twenty four hours in one or more days <strong>of</strong> the week.<br />
2.29.2 A “child day care center” which <strong>of</strong>fers or provides a program <strong>of</strong><br />
supplementary care to more than twelve related or unrelated children outside<br />
their own homes on a regular basis for a part <strong>of</strong> the twenty-four hours in one or<br />
more days in the week.<br />
2.29.3 A “family day care home” which consists <strong>of</strong> a private family home caring for<br />
not more than six children, including the provider’s own children not in school<br />
full time, where the children are cared for not less than three nor more than<br />
twelve hours during a twenty-four hour period and where care is given on a<br />
regularly recurring basis. During the regular school year, a maximum <strong>of</strong> three<br />
additional children who are in school full time, including the provider’s own<br />
children, shall be permitted, except that if the provider has more than three<br />
children who are in school full time, all <strong>of</strong> the provider’s children shall be<br />
permitted.<br />
2.29.4 A “group day care home” which <strong>of</strong>fers or provides a program <strong>of</strong><br />
supplementary care to not less than seven or more than twelve related or<br />
unrelated children on a regular basis for a part <strong>of</strong> the twenty-four hours in one<br />
or more days in the week.<br />
2.30 Developable Acreage: The gross acreage <strong>of</strong> a parcel less that area designated as<br />
inland wetlands or floodplain, less areas with slopes in excess <strong>of</strong> 15%.<br />
2.31 Development: Any construction or grading activities to improved or unimproved real<br />
estate.<br />
2.32 Discharge: The spilling, leaking, pumping pouring, emitting, emptying, or dumping <strong>of</strong><br />
toxic or hazardous materials upon or into any land or waters in the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Vernon</strong>.<br />
