Plan the MAIZE communications strategy and guide the implementation of MAIZE Web‐ and emailbased<br />
stakeholder interactions, knowledge management approaches, and the collection of M&E<br />
information.<br />
Report MAIZE progress against workplans, milestones, outputs and outcomes.<br />
Coordinate the bilateral fundraising aligned with the MAIZE strategy.<br />
Oversee contracts between the Lead Center, other Primary Research Partners and those Research<br />
Partners who contribute to MAIZE global activities.<br />
Seek to fulfill all aspects of the MAIZE performance contract between the Lead Center and the<br />
Consortium Board for successful implementation of MAIZE.<br />
Oversight of individual Strategic Initiatives<br />
The oversight of individual or clusters of Strategic Initiatives is assigned to various Management<br />
Committee members. Assignment of responsibilities is based on the capacity to lead and in support of<br />
the most effective management and implementation across and within SIs. Those responsible for a<br />
particular Strategic Initiative should:<br />

Ensure integration across activities in different regions, identify and promote cross‐cutting<br />
synergistic research activities.<br />
Ensure high‐quality implementation of activities.<br />
Facilitate preparation of annual or medium‐term plans and budgets.<br />
Facilitate preparation of annual reports.<br />
Monitor progress on macro deliverables and highlight bottlenecks to the Management Committee.<br />
Provide input to the development of new bilateral projects that align with particular SIs.<br />
Provide regular progress reports to other members of the MC.<br />
Global coordination and facilitation<br />
Global coordination is facilitated by a program management unit associated with the Chair of the<br />
Management Committee. The unit will:<br />

Facilitate the compilation and consolidation of the global MAIZE workplan, budgets, and reports<br />
from among members of the Management Committee for approval and submission by the Director<br />
General of CIMMYT to the Consortium.<br />
Execute global performance contracts, subcontracts and MoUs.<br />
Implement MAIZE‐wide web/email‐based stakeholder interactions, knowledge management<br />
approaches, and the collection of M&E information.<br />
Facilitate the use of consistent and simple tools across MAIZE, ideally aligned with other CRPs.<br />
Facilitate collective agreement by the Management Committee, on matters including mechanisms,<br />
processes and decision criteria for funding allocations.<br />
Regional and Global Collaborator Teams: Regional and Global Collaborator Teams meet annually in<br />
each sub‐region or globally, and include crucial outside stakeholders, development partners, and<br />
external experts who provide insight on the research agenda. They will:<br />
