1. Place the differential case in the press so that<br />

the threaded end of the pinion is UP. Place<br />

supports under the flange of the differential<br />

case so that the case is level. Place a wood<br />

block under the head of the pinion. Figure<br />

5.11.<br />

2. Press the drive pinion out of the outer bearing<br />

cone. Remove the cone. Figure 5.11.<br />

3. Turn the differential case so that the bearing<br />

caps of the differential case are UP. Place<br />

supports under the differential case so that<br />

the case is level.<br />

4. Place the helical driven gear over the pinion<br />

bore in the differential case so that the splines<br />

inside the gear are toward the front of the differential<br />

case. Place the large spacer on top<br />

of the helical driven gear so that the spacer is<br />

toward the inner bearing cap. Figure 5.12.<br />

5. Install the drive pinion into the helical driven<br />

gear. Verify that the splines on the pinion engage<br />

the splines inside the gear. Figure 5.12.<br />
