Tight Fit Forks and POSE Seal .<br />

1. Apply axle lubricant to the hub of the fork or<br />

flange. Figure 5.98.<br />

Inspect the fork<br />

and hub<br />

2. Verify that the lips of the POSE seal and<br />

the outer retainer of the triple-lip seal or main<br />

seal are clean and free from dirt and particles<br />

that may cause lubricant leakage between<br />

the seals.<br />

3. Install the POSE seal onto the hub of the fork<br />

or flange by hand. The lips of the seal must<br />

face toward the end of the hub, opposite shoulder.<br />

Slide the POSE seal onto the hub until<br />

the lips are 0.25-0.50-inch (6.4-12.7 mm) from<br />

the end of the hub. Do not install the POSE<br />

seal against the shoulder. Figure 5.99.<br />

4.Before install the fork or flange in the shaft,<br />

apply axle lubricant to the hub.<br />

NOTE: The POSE seal will position itself<br />

correctly as the fork or flange is pressed on<br />

the shaft.<br />

5.nstall the fork or flange using the correct procedure.<br />

The fork must be completely seated before<br />

you tighten the pinion nut to the input shaft.<br />
