Per<strong>for</strong>mance Evaluation Tracking System<br />
In the past, the agency did not have an effective tool <strong>for</strong> notifying supervisors<br />
when employee per<strong>for</strong>mance evaluations were to be completed and a process<br />
<strong>for</strong> monitoring completed evaluations. The agency recognized that effective and<br />
consistent per<strong>for</strong>mance management was an area that could be improved and<br />
enhanced upon. As a result, the Per<strong>for</strong>mance Evaluation Tracking System,<br />
known as PETS, was developed. The goal of this new system is to provide a tool<br />
to assist managers and supervisors in effective per<strong>for</strong>mance management,<br />
including the timely completion of per<strong>for</strong>mance evaluations <strong>for</strong> all classified<br />
employees.<br />
<strong>Results</strong><br />
★ Since implementation, this system has provided Employee Services with the<br />
opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of the process,<br />
requirements and benefits of effective per<strong>for</strong>mance management.<br />
★ In addition, there has been a significant increase in the timely completion of<br />
probationary, trial service and annual per<strong>for</strong>mance evaluations. From 3-5 per<br />
week to 10-15 per week on average—a 300% increase!<br />
★ The PETS system has enabled us to provide timely and accurate notification<br />
to supervisors regarding the evaluation due dates and completed training<br />
activities of their employees.<br />
★ We have the increased ability to continuously monitor per<strong>for</strong>mance evaluation<br />
activity to ensure timely completion of evaluations and enhance<br />
communication between supervisors and employees.<br />
★ Notification is provided to Executive Management regarding per<strong>for</strong>mance<br />
management to increase compliance throughout the agency.<br />
