The radiograph should be placed <strong>in</strong> a heavy manila envelope of the proper size, and all of theessential identification data should be written on the envelope so that it can be easily handled andfiled. Envelopes hav<strong>in</strong>g an edge seam, rather than a center seam, and jo<strong>in</strong>ed with anonhygroscopic adhesive are preferred, s<strong>in</strong>ce occasional sta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and fad<strong>in</strong>g of the image iscaused by certa<strong>in</strong> adhesives used <strong>in</strong> the manufacture of envelopes.
