Bachelor of Child and Youth Care • Bachelor of Child and Youth Care • Bachelor of Child and Youth Care • Bachelor of Child and Youth CareCategories of AdmissionApplicants may be admitted to one of the following:Regular AdmissionTo be evaluated through the Office of the RegistrarApplicants must have a minimum overall average of65 per cent, with no course grade lower than 50 per cent, inthe following high school courses:1. ELA 30-12. Social Studies 303. One Group A, B or C course4. One Group A, B, C or D course5. One Group C courseNotes:• Specific university-level courses, with a minimum gradeof C-, may be used to substitute for course deficienciesonly under the following circumstances:• Six credits of university-level English in lieu of ELA 30-1• Six credits of university-level language, other thanEnglish, in lieu of a Group A course (all six credits mustbe the same language)Mature AdmissionTo be evaluated through the Office of the RegistrarApplicants must be 20 years of age or older and have beenout of full-time high school at least one year by the beginningof the intake term. Applicant must have the following:• ELA 30-1 with a minimum grade of 65 per cent (orequivalent)OR• Six credits of university-level English with a minimumgrade of C-Previous Post-Secondary WorkTo be evaluated through the Office of the RegistrarAdmission in this category does not imply or guarantee thetransfer of any coursework and/or credential unless a blocktransfer agreement (internal or external) is in effect andpublished in the calendar by the Office of the Registrar. Inaddition, transfer of coursework does not imply or guaranteethat an applicant will be admitted.Applicants must have successfully completed one of thefollowing from a recognized institution:• A Child and Youth Care Diploma or a related Certificateor Diploma.OR• A minimum of 24 credits of university transferablecoursework with a minimum Admission Grade PointAverage (AGPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and must havecompleted the required core courses listed under theRegular or Mature Admission category.ADDITIONAL ADMISSION CRITERIAAll applicants must meet the following:1. English Language ProficiencyTo be evaluated through the Office of the RegistrarApplicable to all admission categoriesAll applicants must meet an acceptable level of Englishlanguage proficiency.
