Workplace charging appears to be akey enabler for the EV business case– charging at both ends <strong>of</strong> the journeyallows high mileage drivers to takeadvantage <strong>of</strong> the EV operational costsavings, and removes any concernsabout range limitations.The significance <strong>of</strong> workplacecharging for the emerging EV marketis highlighted by the results from the<strong>trial</strong> application to participate process.Figure 42 provides a breakdown in dayand night-time parking locations forthe would-be EV drivers who appliedto participate in the <strong>trial</strong>. For all carsin these households, nearly four infive were <strong>report</strong>ed to be parked atthe workplace during daytime hours.Additional evidence in support <strong>of</strong>workplace charging can be seen inFigure 22.Employer benefits are suggested toinclude improved staff attraction/retention, reduced transport energycosts for salary-packaged employees,and addition <strong>of</strong> a leading-edgecapability to their sustainabilitycredentials. However while theevidence-base for these items isonly now being compiled, the coststo employers may be a significantdeterrent.
