CALSTART (2012), a Californianmembership-based organisation thatpromotes clean transport solutions,is seeking to address these issuesthrough their EV Employer Initiative.They are currently developing a range<strong>of</strong> materials to assist in the promotion<strong>of</strong> workplace charging:• Case studies <strong>of</strong> <strong>electric</strong> <strong>vehicle</strong>strategies and internal policies• Electric <strong>vehicle</strong> infrastructureoptions• Guidance on <strong>electric</strong> <strong>vehicle</strong>infrastructure installation• The <strong>electric</strong> <strong>vehicle</strong> valueproposition (costs/benefits)for businesses.An example early-mover companyis Google. At March 2012, Googlehad installed 227 workplacecharging stations at their Californianheadquarters (Schreiber 2012). Theinstallations are part <strong>of</strong> their goal toprovide EV charging capability at fiveper cent <strong>of</strong> regular parking places.Take-up has been impressive, witharound 200 EV driving employeestaking advantage <strong>of</strong> the workplacecharging option provided.
