<strong>Kangaroo</strong> <strong>Island</strong> Futures Authority Draft Economic Impact of Agriculture and Tourism1. INTRODUCTIONAimThe aim of the consultation is to reach agreement with key stakeholders on what might bereasonable tourism and agriculture growth scenarios to include in the economic impact study.Previous studies, plans and researchIn the absence of a current <strong>Kangaroo</strong> <strong>Island</strong> Integrated Strategic Tourism Plan (DestinationAction Plan 2012 – 2014 acknowledged) and Agricultural Plan that sets targets and describedstrategies to promote growth in the time frame to 2020 and 2040 this paper seeks to identifycritical factors or growth limiters by considering a select number of studies, plans and researchfrom a variety of sources.The <strong>Kangaroo</strong> <strong>Island</strong> Plan: A volume of the South Australian Planning Strategy 9 (The Plan)provides a guide to future land use and development on the <strong>Island</strong> for the period 2010 to2036. The <strong>Kangaroo</strong> <strong>Island</strong> Plan is one of seven regional volumes that, together with the 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide, make up the South Australian Planning Strategy. However, itdoes not set specific growth targets, particularly for agriculture on the <strong>Island</strong>.The following studies, plans and research have been considered. Note: It is recognised thatsome of this work is aged and various actions have been taken in response to the studies.1.
