Agriculture was estimated to directly generateapproximately $30.8m in GRP whilst downstream impacts (i.e. processing and retail/foodservice trade) generated an additional $3.0m in GRP. Flow-on GRP in other sectors of theKangaroo Island economy was estimated to be approximately $24.4m in 2011/12,concentrated in the retail and wholesale trade, transport and storage, property and businessservices and ownership of dwellings sectors.There was also significant activity generated in some of the hospitality and social servicesectors with the accommodation and food services, education, health and personal servicese c o n s e a r c hPage| 23

The total GRP impact of $58.3m represents27 per cent of the regional total in 2011/12.The Kangaroo Island agriculture value chain was estimated to generate over 870 fte jobs in2011/12. Agriculture was estimated to directly generate approximately 639 fte jobs, whilstdownstream impacts generated an additional 37 fte. Flow-on employment in other sectors ofthe regional economy was estimated to sum to 196 fte jobs in 2011/12, concentrated in thewholesale and retail trade, transport and storage, and property and business services sectors.As with GRP, there were also a significant number of jobs generated in the hospitality andsocial service sectors with the accommodation and food services, education, health andpersonal services sectors contributing, in aggregate, 62 fte jobs.
