The availability of a consistent and agreed data and information set that can be applied inthe development of business cases, strategies and plans such as the SA Strategic Plan andKI Tourism Plan12. The cost, nature (e.g. style, point of origin) and availability (e.g. scheduling) of access to<strong>Kangaroo</strong> <strong>Island</strong> for residents, visitors and freight13. The quality and availability of ‘gateway’ infrastructure providing access to <strong>Kangaroo</strong> <strong>Island</strong>or from <strong>Kangaroo</strong> <strong>Island</strong> to other destinations. Examples include:e. <strong>Kingscote</strong> airportf. Penneshaw and Cape Jervis seaportsg. <strong>Kingscote</strong> porth. other potential seaports, bulk handling facilities and processing plants such as BallastHead and American River14. The maintenance and augmentation of sealed and unsealed roads, trails and other internaltransport systems15. The supply of essential services infrastructure including water, waste, electricity andhousing16. The availability of business and community services infrastructure including health andeducation facilities for general purpose servicing of residents and visitors17. The development and application of environmental policy that places constraints oneconomic development in order to conserve and enhance natural assets18. The development and application of wildlife protection and resource management policysuch as Marine Parks19. The costs of development and returns on investment for comparable development on KIand alternative sites on the mainland20.
