Parking Permit Fees: <strong>2012</strong>-<strong>2013</strong> Academic YearAcademic Year $175.00Single Semester $95.00Full-Term Evening $75.00Single Semester Evening $45.00Summer Session $45.00Additional Vehicle $20.00Temporary Handicap Parking PermitsTemporary Handicap Parking Permits are issued as needed at <strong>the</strong> Department of Public Safety’s Office.Temporary Handicap Parking Permits allow community members who have temporary injuries <strong>to</strong> park inVisi<strong>to</strong>r’s parking spaces. Those in need of this service should obtain written documentation from a licensedmedical professional explaining <strong>the</strong>ir specific need and <strong>the</strong> length of time for which <strong>the</strong> Temporary HandicapParking Permit will be necessary. The Temporary Handicap Parking Permit issued by <strong>the</strong> Department ofPublic Safety DOES NOT authorize <strong>the</strong> bearer <strong>to</strong> park in any marked reserved handicapped parking space.Visi<strong>to</strong>r PassesVisi<strong>to</strong>rs are persons, o<strong>the</strong>r than current <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> students, faculty, or staff members,who request entry <strong>to</strong> campus.Visi<strong>to</strong>r Passes are provided, free of charge, <strong>to</strong> visi<strong>to</strong>rs (defined above) authorizing <strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong> properly parkand operate vehicles on campus.<strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> reserves <strong>the</strong> right <strong>to</strong> regulate access <strong>to</strong> its privately-owned property by any personor vehicle.All Visi<strong>to</strong>r Passes are obtained at <strong>the</strong> Welcome Center.Visi<strong>to</strong>r passes must be displayed on <strong>the</strong> dashboard of <strong>the</strong> visi<strong>to</strong>r’s vehicle in such a manner so as <strong>to</strong> belegible from outside <strong>the</strong> vehicle.The driver of <strong>the</strong> vehicle must present a valid pho<strong>to</strong> identification card in order <strong>to</strong> receive a Visi<strong>to</strong>r Pass.Visi<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> residence halls or residential areas must produce a valid pho<strong>to</strong> identification card which is retainedat <strong>the</strong> Welcome Center. Immediately prior <strong>to</strong> departing campus, <strong>the</strong> visi<strong>to</strong>r must s<strong>to</strong>p at <strong>the</strong> Welcome Center,return <strong>the</strong> Visi<strong>to</strong>r Pass, and receive <strong>the</strong> pho<strong>to</strong> identification card he or she previously left <strong>the</strong>re.No visi<strong>to</strong>r <strong>to</strong> residence halls or residential areas will be allowed entry on<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> campus without authorizationfrom <strong>the</strong> hosting resident student unless <strong>the</strong> visi<strong>to</strong>r is directly accompanied by a <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong>faculty or staff member. In any case, <strong>the</strong> procedures for issuance of a Visi<strong>to</strong>r Pass must be followed. Theresident host of <strong>the</strong> visi<strong>to</strong>r must contact Public Safety (630-7098) prior <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir visi<strong>to</strong>r’s arrival.Parking RegulationsVehicle RegistrationAll vehicles parked on campus must have and properly display <strong>the</strong> valid, appropriate parking permi<strong>to</strong>r parking pass issued by <strong>the</strong> Department of Public Safety. Parking permits are issued only <strong>to</strong> currentstudents, faculty or staff members. Parking passes are issued <strong>to</strong> all visi<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> campus except in <strong>the</strong>event of special events or programs. Vehicles belonging <strong>to</strong> non-students may be issued parking permitsregistered <strong>to</strong> a current student by specific authorization of <strong>the</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>r of Public Safety only.It is <strong>the</strong> responsibility of <strong>the</strong> student, faculty, or staff member <strong>to</strong> obtain <strong>the</strong> proper parking permit prior<strong>to</strong> parking or operating a vehicle on campus. Expired parking permits or passes must be replaced withvalid permits or passes prior <strong>to</strong> parking or operating a vehicle on campus.Change of Address or Vehicle Registration PlateIt is <strong>the</strong> responsibility of <strong>the</strong> student, faculty or staff member <strong>to</strong> notify <strong>the</strong> Department of Public Safetyin <strong>the</strong> event of a change of address or change of <strong>the</strong>ir vehicle’s registration plate. <strong>Student</strong>s who havepurchased a Resident Parking Permit, but move off campus must obtain a Commuter Parking Permitprior <strong>to</strong> parking on campus. Alternatively, commuter students who become campus residents must obtaina Residential Parking Permit. In such cases, replacement parking permits are provided at no charge solong as <strong>the</strong> valid, originally-issued permit is surrendered <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department of Public Safety.False RegistrationA <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> parking permit shall only be affixed <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> vehicle <strong>to</strong> which it is assigned.A vehicle shall only be registered on campus in <strong>the</strong> name of <strong>the</strong> student who is that vehicle’sowner or primary opera<strong>to</strong>r.Violations of this regulation prohibiting false registration may result in citations, fines, and <strong>the</strong> suspensionof campus driving privileges.53
