All student clubs andorganizations must be approved by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Government Association Senate. Senate approval allowsclubs and organizations <strong>to</strong> use campus facilities, publicize events, and petition <strong>the</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Senate forfunding. If students wish <strong>to</strong> organize, <strong>the</strong>y should talk with <strong>the</strong> Vice President for <strong>Student</strong> Development andServices. <strong>Student</strong> clubs and organizations may obtain a copy of <strong>the</strong> Publications and Marketing Manualfrom <strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>University</strong> Relations <strong>to</strong> learn more about <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s policies regarding printingand o<strong>the</strong>r marketing guidelines. Clubs and organizations must meet <strong>the</strong> following criteria for approval:1. Have a written constitution2. Have a membership of ten or more students3. Have a designated <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> employee as an advisor4. Have a written purpose that is compatible with <strong>the</strong> mission of <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<strong>Student</strong>s may learn more about clubs in which <strong>the</strong>y are interested by contacting <strong>the</strong> faculty advisor forthose clubs. The most current club listing is maintained on <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s web site (www.methodist.edu).Alpha ChiNorth Carolina Mu ChapterAlpha Chi is a coeducational society whose purpose is <strong>to</strong> promote academic excellence and exemplarycharacter among <strong>University</strong> and university students and <strong>to</strong> honor those who achieve such distinction. AlphaChi admits membership <strong>to</strong> students from all disciplines. To be eligible for membership, a student must be in <strong>the</strong><strong>to</strong>p-ranking 10 percent of <strong>the</strong> junior or senior class or graduate programs. Our founding <strong>to</strong>ok place on May 15, 1851 at Wesleyan Female College in Macon,Georgia-<strong>the</strong> first college in <strong>the</strong> world chartered <strong>to</strong> grant degrees <strong>to</strong> women.
