DVD PlayersDirect TVXM RadioWireless InternetConference Use PolicyConference Use is defined as any sponsoring group from outside <strong>the</strong> <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> community.Conference groups are required <strong>to</strong> reserve campus facilities through <strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>University</strong> Relations.Candles & Fire PolicyUnder no circumstance is open flame allowed in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Centers. Enclosed candles may be permittedon a limited basis upon discretion of <strong>the</strong> management.End of Usage InspectionA routine inspection of <strong>Student</strong> Center equipment and facilities will be done after each period of use for damageand/or excess cus<strong>to</strong>dial needs among o<strong>the</strong>r facility care issues. The reserving organization will be billed forany excessive damage incurred, and <strong>the</strong> organization’s representative will be named as <strong>the</strong> contact person.Smoking PolicyThe <strong>Student</strong> Centers are smoke-free facilities. There is no smoking within 50 feet from <strong>the</strong> buildinganywhere around <strong>the</strong> building. Smoking is only permitted on <strong>the</strong> east wing balcony.Solicitation/Vending PolicyVendors for <strong>the</strong> purposes of this document are defined as persons or groups who wish <strong>to</strong> sell merchandisewithin <strong>the</strong> student center facilities.Vendors who wish <strong>to</strong> use <strong>the</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Centers for on-site sales or marketing will pay a vendor fee of$200 per day or a 20% fee of sold goods fee per each day of sales activity. All vendor activities mustbe approved by <strong>the</strong> Dean of <strong>Student</strong>s.Businesses or persons seeking <strong>to</strong> hire students for temporary, part-time or full-time employment must beapproved by <strong>the</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>r of Career Services. This includes postings of work opportunities, appearancesor correspondence directed <strong>to</strong> student organizations, etc. The Office of Career Services will in turn workwith <strong>the</strong> appropriate campus communication channels <strong>to</strong> publicize said opportunities <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> student body.This policy does not apply <strong>to</strong> registered student organization fundraisers.Animal/Pets PolicyAnimals are not permitted in <strong>the</strong> building, with <strong>the</strong> exception of those animals that provide assistance<strong>to</strong> people with disabilities.Maintenance PolicyMaintenance issues for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Centers should be reported <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>r of <strong>Student</strong> Activities. TheDirec<strong>to</strong>r will be responsible for <strong>the</strong> reporting and follow up on <strong>the</strong>se maintenance issues.Bicycle PolicyBicycles, skateboards, and roller blades are not permitted in <strong>the</strong> building.Lost Items PolicyThe Office of <strong>Student</strong> Activities or <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> is not responsible for lost or s<strong>to</strong>len articles in astudent center. If you have lost or had an item s<strong>to</strong>len check with Campus Security.Audio Visual PolicyOnly trained <strong>Student</strong> Activities staff may transport & operate office technical equipment for use by requesting<strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> affiliated organizations and will remain with <strong>the</strong> equipment form setup, usage andbreakdown. In accordance <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> policy regarding use of campus facilities, one month advanced notice isneeded <strong>to</strong> reserve audio visual equipment. Request must be submitted <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Office of <strong>the</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>r of <strong>Student</strong>Activities. Any last minute request will be honored. <strong>Student</strong> organizations will not be charged for use of saidequipment. <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> departments and event sponsors not affiliated with <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> shouldcontact <strong>the</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>r of <strong>Student</strong> Activities for any use and availability of this service.Non <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> Affiliated <strong>Student</strong>, Staff and Administrative Staff Guest PolicyThe following policy shall apply <strong>to</strong> all guests of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Centers for all events, programs, and private parties:There can be up <strong>to</strong> three guests <strong>to</strong> one <strong>Methodist</strong> <strong>University</strong> student, faculty, or staff member for anyevent, program, or private party.The hosting student must accompany all guests and personally check <strong>the</strong>m in at <strong>the</strong> Welcome Center.Identification of a guest has <strong>to</strong> be checked before entering <strong>the</strong> campus for any event, program, or private party.59
