Pep BandThe Pep Band is open to all students on campus. This ensemble performs throughout the football andbasketball seasons. If enough students are interested in participating a Marching Band will be formed inaddition to the Pep Band. Pi Kappa Alpha’s men are also called PIKES. The Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity was founded atthe University of Virginia on March 1, 1868. PIKES is currently going through the process of becoming an officialcolony on campus. They started up in the Spring of 2012. Their recruitment process is fully recommendations only.Pi Sigma AlphaPi Sigma Alpha is the national honor society for Political Science. It was founded in 1920 at the Universityof Texas for the purpose of bringing together students and faculty to stimulate scholarship and intelligentinterest in Political Science. Today there are over 650 chapters nationwide. Qualifications include being rankedin the top third of one’s graduating class, and having a 3.0 GPA in all Political Science classes. MethodistUniversity’s Omega Chi chapter has been active since 2001, and has inducted 99 members. Information aboutscholarships and other opportunities can be obtained from the national web site: http://www.apsanet.org/~psa/.Dr. Chris Cronin, 630-7665Phi Sigma IotaPhi Sigma Iota is an international honor society for juniors and seniors majoring or minoring in foreignlanguages who have at least a B average in their entire University work and in all foreign language courses,have completed at least one course at the third-year level, and rank in the highest thirty-five percent oftheir class in general scholarship. The purpose of this honor society is stated in the motto: “To understandothers is to understand oneself, one’s culture, and one’s heritage.” The goal is to foster the learning offoreign languages as a means of achieving a better understanding among individuals and nations. PhiSigma Iota awards scholarships, fellowships, and grants to deserving, ambitious, young undergraduateand graduate students, as well as faculty, to complete scholarly programs in foreign languages, literatures,and cultures. The Kappa Gamma Chapter at Methodist University was chartered in 1985.70
Professional Tennis Management Student Association - Club PTMThe purpose of Club PTM is to encourage and promote all aspects of the tennis industry. Club PTM isfor all PTM majors that would like to learn more about the field, while putting on tournaments and doingvarious community service projects.Tom Daglis, 630-7147Psi ChiPsi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology. In order to be a member of Psi Chi, students mustbe majoring or minoring in Psychology and have at least 45 s.h. towards a degree. They must also havecompleted at least 9 hours in Psychology and be enrolled for 3 hours more before they will be consideredfor membership. Also, they must have a Methodist University GPA of at least a 3.0 in both Psychologycourses and in all courses, and rank in the upper 35% of their class.Dr. John F. RUSH emphasizes passionateprayer coupled with life-giving outreach, as we serve the physical and spiritual needs of the campus. RUSHoperates within relational small group meetings which provide students an avenue to connect with oneanother. These small groups help students to discover and use their unique talents and gifts as they comeinto the purpose for which they were created. RUSH is a local ministry outreach of Manna Church. Avoidingtraditional religious structures, our small group format and energetic worship services are designed to helpGod’s people experience the best God has for them.
