CHAPTER 2MODELLINGOFHEATANDPOWERDEMANDSChapter overviewThis chapter explains the methodology used to model the thermal and electricalenergy demands of a building. Specifically, this chapter serves to (1) explain somebasic aspects of the building simulation tool ESP-r; (2) provide a short explanationof how the demand side was modelled using ESP-r; and, (3) explain how the differentoperating conditions which affect the demand side of the system were factored intothe modelling.27
