Sector Resources and PolicyThe dense humid forests of Cameroon cover a surface area of about19.598 million hectares (that is 41.2 percent of the national territory)in the southern part of the country, which also has forested savannahsand forest galleries covering about 4.3 million hectares. According to theoverall assessment of surface area carried out within the framework ofthe National Environment Management Plan of 1996, dense forests andwooded savannahs cover a surface area of 21.070 million hectares, some45 percent of the national territory.
