officials. Existing farmer cooperatives in the Project<br />
tambons will be studied, evaluated, and assisted by a farmer<br />
institution specialist provided by the De<strong>part</strong>ment of Cooperative<br />
Promoti.on.<br />
(6; Inputs<br />
Inputs are generally noted above for each<br />
output component. The Project will finance several<br />
trainng activities, including short training courses of a<br />
few day: each for about 16,000 villagers in agricultural<br />
subject areas of interest; intensive one to three week<br />
specialized training courses for approximately 500 villagers;<br />
and supplemental training tor TEA's, field managersw district<br />
officials and subject matter speciali'sta In addition, a<br />
number of meetings and seminars will be financed for Project<br />
staff worKing groups and for villagers, in order to introduce<br />
them to the Project concept and activiti.eo Approximately<br />
fifteen meetings between civil officials, farmers and<br />
merchants are also planned to discuss and arrange for<br />
marketing needs under the Project.<br />
Land Use Planning activities will be<br />
financed under the Proj-e-t 7 including detailed soil surveys,<br />
contour maps . topo maps and a land tenure survey for the<br />
appzox_.at54y 60,000 hectares in the eight tambonso<br />
Soil testing will also be financed for approximately 8,000<br />
samples-<br />
Wages and Per Diem (where appropriate)<br />
will be provided for Farmer Specialists, weather recorders,<br />
farmer record keepers, and engineering staff.<br />
Other inputs include necessary tools and<br />
agricultural inputs for the research demonstration and<br />
extension act'_.vL.tFes, and equipment and supplies for the<br />
administ ration of tne Project and orefe output<br />
components.<br />
The Prcject will finance tractors/vehicles for<br />
the 1:nd development. cc.mponent and regional proj'ect support,<br />
motorcycles for TEAs and,the engineering support component,<br />
and constfuction/furn:,.shing of tambon extension facil-ities,<br />
Specialist Fazmers, storage rooms, and the regional administrative<br />
iac~lltyo<br />
