Planting ct new high-yielding cultivars of<br />
cassaya (Rayong I) and kenaf (TSH 30) and<br />
improved management practices in areas where<br />
those crops are currentVy grcwn.<br />
Intercropping or cassava w..uh a short to<br />
medium duration legume crop (erg. peanut) or<br />
cassava-legume rotations in cassava growing<br />
areas which need soil conservation measures.<br />
Other faiming systems modifcations include:<br />
- improvement of disease control and nutrition<br />
oi hcusehcd poultry,<br />
- Improvemern of dsease and parasite control<br />
and nutrit-on of large domest.c livestock.<br />
- An agricultural component, for increased<br />
fish produ:ticn,<br />
- Improvement of sericultare pra-t:ces for<br />
increasad mulberry and silk production.<br />
- Nursery production of trees for fruit,<br />
fodder, and ruel-wood production.<br />
- Demonstration or improved management of<br />
public Lands for animal feed and fuelwood<br />
produc ton.<br />
All of the propsed ptactices ace either currently<br />
being applied in .azs;v areas of the country or have shown<br />
considerable prom.se based on research station and/or<br />
village work conducted by de<strong>part</strong>ments of the MOAC or local<br />
universit:es. They have demonstrated their feasibility<br />
under certain conditions.<br />
