The “Autopilot Engaged” subfield is a 1-bit (“ME” bit 48, Message bit 80) field that shall be used to indicate<br />

whether the autopilot system is engaged or not.<br />

a. The ADS-B Transmitting Subsystem shall accept in<strong>for</strong>mation from an appropriate interface that<br />

indicates whether or not the Autopilot is engaged.<br />

b. The ADS-B Transmitting Subsystem shall set “ME” bit 48 (Message bit 80) in accordance with<br />

Table C-17.<br />

a. The ADS-B Transmitting Subsystem shall accept in<strong>for</strong>mation from an appropriate interface that<br />

indicates whether or not the Vertical Navigation <strong>Mode</strong> is active.<br />
