Ensure radios (Marine VHF capable) always charged<br />

Issue and check PPE<br />

REQUIRED:<br />

Radio contact with home SLSC, LandSAR, local Coastguard, maritime radio,<br />

amateur radio, etc.<br />

PREFERRED:<br />

Spare fuel for rescue vehicle<br />

Equip rescue assets with night rescue equipment if task duration likely to<br />

exceed available daylight MUST refer to the to the low light/night operations<br />

NSOP.<br />

PPE REQUIRED ON PERSON:<br />

Reflectorised vest<br />

Lifeguard uniform<br />

Personal Locator Beacon (PLB)<br />

Whistle<br />

Gloves and face shield<br />

Footwear appropriate for task, e.g., walking on rocks, road<br />

PPE PREFERRED ON PERSON:<br />

Warm clothing<br />

Personal EPIRB or flare-pack<br />

Handheld GPS navigation equipment<br />

Energy bars and drinking water<br />

REQUIRED ON RESCUE VEHICLE:<br />

Contact Police to report the incident<br />

Consider inclusion of other emergency agencies (Other Clubs, LandSAR, FENZ<br />

High Angle Rescue team, Coastguard, Rescue Helicopter) if:<br />

- Persons last known point was in terrain steep or heavily bushed.<br />

- Operation likely to exceed available light<br />

- Initial search of immediate surrounding area has not located person within<br />

15mins<br />

- Search required after-hours<br />

- Missing person is a minor (
