1.0 PURPOSE<br />

To outline the necessary steps to performing lifesaving activities around rocks.<br />

2.0 SCOPE<br />

All SLSNZ operations except for competitive sport events involving rock jumps.<br />

3.0 REQUIREMENTS<br />

Full length wetsuit (minimum 2mm)<br />

Helmet (EN1385 standard)<br />

Required PPE<br />

High vis rash shirt or lifeguard rash shirt<br />

Fins<br />

Rescue tube<br />

Awards/Licenses<br />

Surf Lifeguard Award (Refreshed)<br />

SLSNZ Rock Training & Rescue Module<br />

Participants<br />

Surf lifeguard refresher<br />

Training<br />

Instructors/<br />

Leaders<br />

Must have attended the Rock Training and Rescue<br />

Instructors Course<br />

Rock Instructors Award (or conferred Rock Instructors<br />

Award)<br />

Other<br />

Must be minimum 18 years old to participate<br />

Current SLSNZ member<br />

Minimum 3 years of active patrol experience, and relevant<br />

rock activity experience<br />

Equipment<br />

At least one support/rescue craft in close proximity (within<br />

sight and hearing of participants)<br />
