APPH’s rolling programme of continuous improvement gathered pace in 2010 with the combination of the
Runcorn and Bolton hydraulics operations and the closure of the Bolton site to remove duplicated
processes and drive down costs. In a challenging market, APPH is focused on maximising its operational
efciency in order to be well positioned for the future.
Every APPH UK employee is trained in continuous improvement techniques through the company’s
Continual Improvement Forum set up in 2007. These CI skills are utilised across APPH sites as part of
development projects at all levels to add value and eliminate waste. This is true for all aspects of APPH’s
business from large engineering projects down to smaller environmental initiatives.
APPH’s improvement initiatives at its Runcorn sites are ongoing and it is currently addressing the layout of
the Runcorn Landing Gear maintenance, repair and overhaul and engineering facilities to improve
operational efciency and ensure that the right skill sets are available at the point of need.
