60 — Directors’ <strong>Report</strong><br />
Susta<strong>in</strong>ability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are a fundamental part of <strong>BBA</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong>’s vision,<br />
mission and values and are key to achiev<strong>in</strong>g our goals.<br />
<strong>BBA</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong>’s Approach to CSR is driven by the Group’s values – Integrity, Responsibility, Safety,<br />
Service, People and Performance – which are a vital and <strong>in</strong>tegral part of everyth<strong>in</strong>g we do. Our values are set<br />
out <strong>in</strong> more detail on page 14 and <strong>in</strong> this section of the Directors’ <strong>Report</strong> we set out some examples of what<br />
our approach to CSR means on the ground, as our employees put <strong>in</strong>to practice our commitment to areas of<br />
Corporate Social Responsibility that are valued by our stakeholders.<br />
The Board is very pleased with the Group’s progress <strong>in</strong> each of its areas of CSR focus <strong>in</strong> <strong>2010</strong>. Some of the<br />
highlights of the past year have been: 124 sites achiev<strong>in</strong>g a Recordable Incident Rate of zero; all ERO’s sites <strong>in</strong><br />
the USA now hold<strong>in</strong>g ISO14001 accreditation; and start<strong>in</strong>g to see the impact of a structured and Group-wide<br />
approach to community <strong>in</strong>volvement. This is all further evidence that operat<strong>in</strong>g responsibly is becom<strong>in</strong>g part<br />
of what each of our bus<strong>in</strong>esses and our employees th<strong>in</strong>k about and do every day.<br />

<strong>BBA</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong>’s Approach to CSR<br />
Susta<strong>in</strong>ability is core to <strong>BBA</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong>’s vision, mission, values and<br />
goals and to the way we do bus<strong>in</strong>ess. Susta<strong>in</strong>ability requires us to<br />
manage our impact on, and contribute positively to, society and the<br />
environment and we do this by tak<strong>in</strong>g a responsible approach to the<br />
operation of our companies and the conduct of our personnel.<br />
Corporate Social Responsibility is <strong>in</strong>corporated with<strong>in</strong> <strong>BBA</strong><br />
<strong>Aviation</strong>’s vision, mission, values and goals. Through realis<strong>in</strong>g our<br />
vision to be a dynamic world-class supplier to the global aerospace<br />
<strong>in</strong>dustry, cont<strong>in</strong>uously deliver<strong>in</strong>g exceptional performance, we aim<br />
to deliver susta<strong>in</strong>able value creation <strong>in</strong> our bus<strong>in</strong>ess for all our<br />
stakeholders, beneft<strong>in</strong>g local communities with the employment<br />
and career development opportunities with<strong>in</strong> our operations.<br />
1. Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Ethics, Engagement & Transparency<br />

2. Employees<br />

3. Health and Safety<br />

on Health and Safety specifc to the aviation <strong>in</strong>dustry<br />
4. Environment<br />
– We will manage, and strive to reduce, our environmental<br />
impact through the more efcient use of the resources our<br />
bus<strong>in</strong>esses consume<br />
– We will support <strong>in</strong>novative developments <strong>in</strong> technologies that<br />
support our bus<strong>in</strong>ess objectives and can of er environmental,<br />
community and social benefts<br />
5. Human Rights<br />
– We respect the pr<strong>in</strong>ciples of the Universal Declaration of<br />
Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation<br />
core conventions and are guided by their provisions <strong>in</strong> the<br />
conduct of our bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
6. Suppliers<br />
– We will encourage the application of our Approach to<br />
Corporate Social Responsibility by our suppliers<br />
7. Customers<br />
– We will work with our customers <strong>in</strong> striv<strong>in</strong>g to deliver<br />
Corporate Social Responsibility objectives and susta<strong>in</strong>ability<br />
<strong>in</strong> the aviation sector<br />
8. Community<br />
– We will identify opportunities to beneft local communities<br />
where we operate through community <strong>in</strong>volvement and<br />
charitable giv<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Implementation<br />
We will assess and manage our key Corporate Social Responsibility<br />
risks and identify and plan the realisation of our key Corporate Social<br />
Responsibility opportunities, sett<strong>in</strong>g annual targets and long-term<br />
objectives at a local and corporate level, focus<strong>in</strong>g on priority issues.<br />
Compliance<br />
Compliance with this approach will be treated <strong>in</strong> the same manner<br />
as compliance with other <strong>BBA</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong>-wide guidel<strong>in</strong>es. All<br />
Manag<strong>in</strong>g Directors will be required to sign a disclosure statement<br />
twice each year (mid-year and year-end) acknowledg<strong>in</strong>g their<br />
receipt of a copy of this document; their dissem<strong>in</strong>ation of the<br />
document to their direct reports; and their disclosure of any known<br />
violations of the document, to the extent not previously reported.<br />
Compliance with this approach will be the subject of review as part<br />
of the <strong>BBA</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong> Internal Audit Programme.<br />
