and hope it always will be, to require even any security<br />

whatever f<strong>ro</strong>m one whose rank, fortune, p<strong>ro</strong>bity, and honor,<br />

might be alone sufficient in the case, and acting especially in<br />

a matter of public charity to Masons, himself a Mason, and<br />

under the high and solemn tie and obligation of that great<br />

characters—The committee notwithstanding conceived, that<br />

no B<strong>ro</strong>ther who may be nominated for that purpose, would<br />

p<strong>ro</strong>bably decline giving the Grand Lodge the satisfaction, if<br />

they require it, of his own single personal security ; and<br />

therefore submit it as their humble opinion,<br />

That the Treasurer do give his personal security, by his<br />

own bond, to the Grand Master, Deputy Grand Master, and<br />

Senior Grand Warden, and the two B<strong>ro</strong>thers of the afore­<br />

said Committee of Five, not off<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>ice</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>rs, in the penalty and<br />

with condition to be app<strong>ro</strong>ved by the Grand Lodge hereafter,<br />

if they think fit to require it.<br />

And as concerning the Treasurer's Accounts, the com­<br />

mittee were further of opinion,<br />

That the Treasurer do p<strong>ro</strong>duce his accounts of his receipts<br />

and disbursements—either by order of the Grand Lodge or<br />

Committee of Five—fair, and lay them before the Grand<br />

Lodge, at every Quarterly Communication, with the vouch­<br />

ers, for the disbursements; the items of the accounts to be<br />

then publicly read over; and if any dispute or difficulty<br />

shall arise upon any of them, the matter to be referred to<br />

such five Brethren present, as the person then presiding shall<br />

nominate, and the Grand Lodge app<strong>ro</strong>ve, to examine into<br />

the g<strong>ro</strong>unds of the same against the next Quarterly Com­<br />

munication, when they are to report their p<strong>ro</strong>ceedings in the<br />

case, with the state of it, for the final judgment and direction<br />

of the Grand Lodge: and,<br />

That the Treasurer's accounts be allowed, f<strong>ro</strong>m time to<br />

time, by the Grand Master's signing them, as allowed in the<br />

Grand Lodge, and any seven Masters of Lodges present<br />

attesting such signing in their presence, and two copies of
